New Business: Regina will be emailing the constitution to the members for approval of our new chapter of the UDC. Julia invited us to a grave dedication of T D Benson. His headstone was taken from the First Presbyterian Church and dumped in the woods in Pickens County. They are in the process of putting it back into place. Also, there are other Federal soldiers in the graveyard. One is Michael Scroghroe as noted in a paper dated June 19, 1867. A marker will be ordered for his gravesite. Julia Barnes wanted to know if the Emmala Reed Miller Chapter would sponsor the dedication. Dianne Lollis made a motion to sponsor this dedication and Gale Waters seconded the motion. Everyone agreed. There was a request made by Dianne Lollis for military service award for Marvin and Herman Cooley. They are both related to SCA JJ Cooley of Pelzer who is buried at Fork Shoals Baptist Church. JJ Cooley, confederate soldier, has been approved through Dianne’s supplemental. Regina Power entertained a motion to give the military awards and Teresa Reed seconded the motion. After the chapter is chartered we will move forward with these requests.
